MANITOBA
Winter has arrived with a vengeance across western Canada with plenty of snow in Alberta but not so much in this province. This making for some pretty good ice with limited snow cover. As usual test conditions constantly when you head out for your first ice trip. Speaking of which Reel Life with Mike, along with Stagg on the Line, headed up to Twin Lakes in the Ducks to get in on some first ice tiger trout!
A little further up Barbe Lake is still producing some gorgeous Brook Trout. Check out this beautifully coloured Brookie caught by Reece Robinson.

Over on the east side of the province, there are plenty of stocked trout lakes to choose from. Don’t forget that the provincial fish hatchery is located at West Hawk Lake so a lot of the big brood stock gets put in local lakes. Check out this Master Angler rainbow caught by Hooked Contributor Kayla Jorgenson in Gull Lake.

Crappies are also a great first ice species to target as they haven’t seen a hook for about a month now and they tend to school up in easily identifiable areas. Anglers are walking out on Caddy Lake and catching good fish. Check out this 15 and 1/2 inch slab caught by Jessie Belot.

SASKATCHEWAN
Speaking of good ice Darry Gilbert shows you to set up for sight fishing when you find good clear ice. Daryl makes Saskatchewan Landing his home in the winter along with his partner Emily.
