MANITOBA
It has been a relatively slow start to the fall feeding frenzy. Weather conditions have been unstable and the fishing success has reflected that. One species that seems to be active are the mooneye on the Winnipeg River.
Nathan Puzio and family have been having some outstanding success. Closer to home the channel catfish have remained aggressive. The fall walleye bite on the Red River is still sporadic.
Jay Siemens recently loaded up the truck and headed to downtown Winnipeg to fish with some fans and show off the Urban Fishery.
NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO
Jeff Gustafson is having a great fall around his home near Kenora, Ontario. He has been fishing tournaments and recently had an awesome weekend out at Crow Rock Lodge for the Lund Boats Fish Camp event. Many fish were caught, the food at Crow Rock was top-notch.
Almost all of the walleyes and smallmouths were caught on Ned rigs in 5-12 feet of water and the pike were all a Z-Man Fishing Products 7” Scented Jerk ShadZ on a 1/4 oz Northland Fishing Tackle Smeltinator Jig (5/0 hook).
SASKATCHEWAN
There were a lot of tournaments happening in the province in the last month. Plleny of big walleye have been caught but one of the most memorable reports on big fish comes from Last Mountain Lake.

A Carp Fishing Trip on Last Mountain to remember for Renaud D. from Quebec!
As an Outfitter it is extremely rewarding to be apart of an Angler’s dream & watch as lasting memories are made while the trip, for some of a lifetime, comes together.When Renaud arrived for his Banklife Carping Holiday Adventure, in true Saskatchewan fashion the winds were howling. ALBERTA
Alberta Fishing Report-Wes David-Fishing the Wild West
In my opinion, September and October are two of the best months of the year to be an outdoorman or outdoorswoman in Alberta. At this time of year, countless big game and waterfowl hunting opportunities are scattered across the province. At the same time, anglers can take advantage of the fall feeding frenzy on Alberta’s lakes, rivers, and reservoirs.
Right now, on Alberta’s lakes and reservoirs, walleye and northern pike are reported to be aggressively feeding. Walleye are hitting bottom-bouncing rigs and once found, anglers are setting up and producing both quality and quantity fish with a variety of jigging presentations. Walleye are holding on structure in depths ranging from 12 to 20 feet. Northern pike are hitting a #2 Len Thompson Lure (colour doesn’t seem to matter) in 10 to 15 feet of water near sand flats and weedbeds.
On the North and South Saskatchewan River systems, walleye, sauger, suckers, and gold-eye are also taking jigs and swimbaits, with the deep pockets of water producing the most fish. Lake sturgeon are also hitting in a variety of locations on the river systems, with nightcrawlers producing the most bites.
Rainbow and cutthroat trout are hitting a variety of sinking flies, and some reports say spincast anglers are doing well with small gold and silver inline spinners or a #6 Len Thompson lure. I’m guessing the same baits are working on the stocked trout ponds. And to add to the excitement of the fall feeding frenzy, many anglers are hunting now, so in many cases, a fall angler has these fish all to themselves.
