MANITOBA
There is a wide variety of angling activity in the province as we move into the middle of September. Warm water species are still biting with good bullhead action on the Red River. Check out a fashionable Eve Capri with one of her many Master Angler fish.

Thew goldeye are also running in the Red while the mooneye are coming on strong in the Winnipeg River system. Of course the channel catfish are on a feeding frenzy and make for a great day trip for the anglers close by.

Some good fishing for pike, walleye and smallmouth on the Winnipeg River from Pointe du Bois to the Ontario border. Eaglenest Lodge guest Jason Bollenbeck caught this Master Angler in early September. Jason visits us all the way from Virginia.

Still on that section of river, their is a stocked trout lake near Pointe du Bois with some nice tiger trout. It is a portage lake and you can find its location by using the Lake Information for Anglers website at https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/2557cda82dcc4a348fbb71304cedcf6d/page/Waterbodies
Don’t be fooled by the website address, it is a legit site and has some great information.
NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO
It is big bass and musky season in this part of the world. Gussy has been hard at work at his craft, on the water almost every day. Check out this smallmouth he caught with a huge herring in its stomach!

Of course he loves to fish the Smeltinator for most of the year as it catches pretty much everything that swims including walleye.
Hooked contributor and musky guide Glenn McDonald has been putting in the hours on the water. It’s his favourite time of the year as the big fish start to move. In the latest issue of Hooked coming out in a weeks time he talks about his career as a guide.

Check out the link to his video on the subject below.
SASKATCHEWAN – Wes David. Host and Producer of Fishing the Wild West TV

Amisk Lake is located 30km south of Denare Beach, Saskatchewan and is on the southern edge of the Canadian Shield. T&D Amisk Camp is a year-round drive-to fishing camp located in one of the many bays on the south shore of Amisk Lake, near the mouth of the South Sturgeon Weir.
T&D Amisk Camp has everything avid anglers are looking for. Beautiful cabins, kitchens within the cabins, comfortable sleeping accommodations, complimentary fish filleting, and incredible walleye and northern pike fishing. However, what really stuck out for me was the T&D marina. Upon arrival, anglers launch their boat in the wind-protected marina and park it at the dock matching their cabin number. This makes it quick and easy for anglers to come and go from the marina without any time delays dealing with their boat. This gives guests more time fishing. Hooked Editor Don Lamont and wife Thora joined the event and are seen here leaving the marina for a day on the water.

Nick and Cindy, the owners of T&D Amisk Camp, were the host lodge for the 2nd annual Fishing the Wild West TV Industry Gathering. Curt from PK Lures was fishing for walleye using his new PK Lures Sonar Spoons and field testing some new colours with the PK Lures Ridge Glider.

Walleye were found exactly where they were supposed to be. Off the rock points, sunken rock humps, and in the deep water (13-23) feet on the edge of weed beds. Don Lamont, the editor of Hooked Magazine, also focused on walleye. Daryl from Fishing and Hunting Saskatchewan spent a little time with all the anglers, focusing on both walleye and northern pike, depending on the boat he was in.

We were shooting an episode of Fishing the Wild West TV and spent time fishing with everyone in camp. However, our focus was on the large northern pike that swim within the depths of Amisk Lake. Using a #2 Len Thompson lure, we thoroughly worked the weed beds in depth, ranging from four to 10 feet of water. Pike of all sizes would come out of hiding and hit the lure. The fight was instant as pike would take the lure and try to retreat to the safety of the weeds. We managed to land a few northern pike in the 40 and 40+ range and had some heart-stopping moments during the fight. I can’t wait to try ice fishing at T&D in March and see the Northern Lights at their peak.
If you are looking for a drive-to fishing trip of a lifetime that has everything to offer at a fly-in fishing lodge, I highly recommend T&D Amisk Camp.
